HOW TO CLEAN AND DISINFECT L3Harris Portables, Mobiles and Accessories

All L3Harris portables, mobiles and accessories can be rigorously cleaned and disinfected to remove contaminants. Do not use chemical cleaners, sprays, denatured alcohol (ethanol) or petroleum-based products, they may damage the radio housing. L3Harris approved disinfectants for radios, batteries and accessories:

  • Calla 1452 (or equivalent)
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Diluted Bleach (1:10 Bleach: Water)

XL portable users can also choose from these products:

  • Enviro-Tru-1453
  • T36 Disinfex (Viralex)

RIGOROUS CLEANING GUIDELINES

To clean radios and accessories

Wipe down radio with disinfectant applied to a clean, damp cloth. Do not spray cleaning solution directly on the radio, control head or accessory

  • Clean radio speaker, microphone areas and accessories with a clean, damp cloth sprayed with disinfectant. Rub carefully to prevent any fluid from entering the speaker or microphone openings
  • Then wipe with a clean cloth dampened with mild, warm soapy water
  • Follow with a clean cloth dampened with only warm water
  • Dry with a clean cloth

To remove dust and dirt from radios:

  • Dampen a clean cloth with warm water and add a mild detergent soap or Simple Green® and wipe radio
  • Then wipe the radio with another clean, warm-water dampened cloth
  • Wipe dry with a clean cloth

To clean battery contacts:

  • Remove battery from radio and use a soft, dry cloth to wipe battery and radio contacts and remove dirt and grease
  • Detach accessories and rub the UDC contacts with a clean, dry cloth

Radios used or installed in harsh environments can be periodically cleaned with either a soft, dry cloth or soft-bristle, non-metallic brush

PERIODIC CLEANING GUIDELINES

NOTE: There are many sanitizing wipes on the market, the main ingredient in the wipes are untested, we can’t confirm they are safe for use on L3Harris radios

NOTE: For the best results, refer to the individual product maintenance manuals for detailed cleaning procedures.

NOTE: L3Harris is unable to and did not determine whether the cleaning instructions set forth above will be effective in removing all germs, viruses and other contaminants from radio equipment.
